Ming Wai Yeung




Research interest

My research interests are bioinformatics and applied statistics. I have experience in epidemiological analysis as well as disease modelling with machine learning methods. I work with different data in medical research including clinical data, genetic data as well as imaging data.

Current projects

  • Comparison of deep learning and polygenic risk score for modelling epistasis
  • Investigation of genetic basis of sex disparity of Alzheimer’s disease on a family based cohort
  • Disease classification and prediction of age-related macular degeneration based on retinal imaging data
  • Prioritization of disease phenotype with multiscale data
  • Prioritization of variants from whole exome sequencing data for rare genetic diseases

  • Investigation of relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in people with type 2 diabetes in Chinese population
