Artificial Intelligence for rare bone and retinal diseases

Research

The rapid developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and, at the same time, the emergence of big data in medical fields have provided researchers with unprecedented opportunities to advance precision and personalized medicine. Dr. Behnam Javanmardi and his team exploit state-of-the-art AI techniques in computer vision and automated image analysis to develop tools and methods for computer-assisted diagnosis of genetic diseases.

High-precision bone age measurement & growth anomalies detection.  See the publication.

Collaborations:

Eye2Gene

Our group has been involved in the development of the Eye2Gene models since the early stages of the project. We are currently exploring the high-dimensional representation space of Eye2Gene models to enable the matching of ultra-rare diseases.

InsightRP2

Our group is developing deep learning models to analyse retinal images and extract morphological parameters indicative of disease progression in RP2-associated retinitis pigmentosa.

Scivias Study

Our group is developing AI techniques for the identification of new biomarkers in retinal images for the overall assessment of the systemic health status of children.
